Halt the Abuse and Routine Mutilation of Males
Circumcision Quotes "Social reformers are never, ever liked. They are always unpopular because they are always confronting a culture that doesn't want to know more about injustice for which they bear some responsibility." -Gregg Cunningham, Esq. Executive Director for The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform (Clicks: 47)
Anatomy of the prepuce Though human anatomy has been the object of scientific study since the 16th century, surprisingly little is known today about the structure and function of the foreskin. Perhaps the subject could not have been broached without venturing into forbidden territory; the foreskin does, after all, lie at the heart of the sacrificial ritual of circumcision. Almost certainly the foreskin has played some role in the propagation of the human species. At least we may assume the foreskin would not have persisted over millions of years if all it did was attract dust, thorn pricks and other natural hazards. In fact, the foreskin did not merely survive; it flourished to become the dominant and most visible feature of a man’s reproductive equipment. (Clicks: 90)
Circumcision in Australia Today the vast majority of Australian boys are not circumcised, and grow up happily with the bodies that nature gave them. Although circumcision was common from the 1920s to the 1960s, medical authorities have discouraged the practice since the 1970s, and it is now pretty much a thing of the past. Most parents want their boys to be as happy and healthy as possible, and they know that leaving their penis to develop naturally is the best way to secure these outcomes. The most recent statement (August 2009) from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians states clearly “the RACP does not recommend that routine circumcision in infancy be performed.” (Clicks: 49)

NOHARMM National Organization to Halt the Abuse and Routine Mutilation of Males - A Health & Human Rights Organization. It is the privilege, the curse, and ultimately the responsibility of human rights advocates to illuminate subjects that most people prefer to ignore. For over 100 years, English-speaking societies, most notably the United States, have debated the pros and cons of circumcising healthy male children. In a new era of children’s rights, greater respect for their rights must be accorded. (Clicks: 91)
NORM-UK NORM-UK is a voluntary organisation which runs support groups that meet regularly in England, produces a quarterly magazine, and has dealt with thousands of enquiries, both about foreskin restoration and about avoidance of circumcision. NORM-UK from the start was mainly concerned about medical rather than religious circumcision. However, we have been joined by members who were circumcised on religious grounds, and our view is that we cannot support the mutilation of children for any reason, unless there is serious disease not treatable by conservative measures. We do not oppose ritual circumcision of fully informed adults, who, after due consideration of the facts, have given their consent without coercion. Genital mutilation of children (who are naturally incapable of giving informed consent) regardless of their race, religion or sex, violates their human rights, and exposes them to pain, risks to physical and psychological health, and to permanent bodily mutilation. We believe that the skin or mucosa covering the sexual organs of the human is a unique and highly specialised part of the body, richly endowed with tactile sensory receptors, and that it plays an important role in conveying sexual pleasure.
